The Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education on Wednesday launched the second season of the “Know Your Stuff” Literature Quiz competition, which will begin in January when school reopens.
Vic Insanally of Guyenterprise said that 16 schools will be participating in the competition. Four new schools have joined while 12 have been retained from last year. Last year’s winner President’s College will be defending its title. He also said that he is grateful to GT&T for renewing the contract.
The competition is said to be contributing to better CSEC results for many students. The second season starts in mid January, allowing the students five weeks to study for the competition.
Dr Joyce Jonas thanked GT&T for understanding the benefits of Literature to students by renewing the contract. She said the goal of the competition is to love Literature and to make students understand that Literature is fun, like every other subject.
Senior Educator Rajwantie Permaul said the Ministry of Education saw the benefits and success of the programme and will continue to support the upcoming competition. She also welcomes any partnership that will promote learning and improve the education system.
GT&T Public Relations Officer Allison Parker said GT&T credits teachers who help their students achieve their goal in the competition. The competition will see 16 programmes in eight weeks.
