(Jamaica Gleaner) The St Catherine South police are reporting that they have seized another illegal high-powered weapon.
The police say an AK-47 rifle and several live rounds were seized at the fishing village on the Dyke Road in Portmore early this morning.
According to the police, about 2:30 a.m, a police party was fired on by men in the Dyke Road area.
The police say the fire was returned and following an exchange of gun fire two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
An AK-47 rifle loaded with nine rounds of ammunition was found.
Both men were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
Two Sundays ago, the police recovered another high-powered weapon in Portmore.
