He related that he plans to return to the Bourda Market area, where he lives, to recover.
When asked if he wanted to see his attacker brought to justice, Layne said “I would like fah see he get jail but if the police can’t find he then what could I do?”

He had recounted walking along Wellington Street on his way to the Astor Cinema last Friday night, when his assailant, who he said he had never seen before, approached. “I de heading to the cinema and jus suh de man walk up to me, he didn’t had nothing in he hand everything just happen so quick and then he start stabbing me to me neck with a knife and when I go fah run he stab me in me back,” he had said.

Persons at the scene said the man’s attacker, a known individual, threw the knife used in the attack into a nearby drain and calmly walked away from the scene. They said the assailant frequents the area and would usually have a knife or cutlass on his person.

The attack on Layne was unprovoked, witnesses also said.
