Internationally acclaimed body builder and 2010 Mr. Universe champion Hugh Ross was yesterday honoured in his hometown Berbice by Banks DIH Limited in the form of the erection of a billboard.
The presentation of the billboard was made to Ross yesterday in the presence of Sales and Marketing Executive of Banks DIH Limited, Carlton Joao, and over 90-odd students and teachers of the Eversham Primary School, Berbice.
Ross was born in Eversham. Banks DIH Communications Manager Troy Peters and Berbice Branch Manager Reginald Matthews along with Sales Manager Joshua Torrezao were also present at the ceremony.
According to Joao, Ross is the perfect ambassador for Malta Supreme because of his healthy lifestyle.
“We are extremely pleased to have Hugh Ross partnering with us,” said Joao.
Acting head teacher Naomi Stewart extended a warm welcome to Ross and the visiting party on behalf of the school which has been in existence since 1910 although it is now housed in a building constructed in 1996.
The students and teachers of the school were overwhelmed to see Ross who called on the pupils of the school to be disciplined, to study hard and to show respect for their elders.
Inscribed on the billboard sponsored by Banks Malta Supreme are the words – “The Village of Eversham salutes Mr. Universe 2010 Mr. Hugh Ross – A proud Berbician.”
Ross is said to be a goodwill ambassador for Banks Malta Supreme, Banks DIH’s non alcoholic malt energy drink.
Ross is the winner of over-50 title at the NABBA World Championships which was held in June The bodybuilding icon who resides in the United States is also the recipient of Guyana’s fifth highest national award, the Medal of Service (MS).
