Residents of Lethem are expected to have 24 hours of electricity as of Monday since two engines are now supplying the area with electricity.
About two weeks ago the engine that was broken down was repaired and is now back in action bringing the number of engines operating to two, Chairman of the Lethem Power Company Christopher Moses said.
This new development is expected to provide round-the-clock electricity for residents during the holiday season. Moses also added that the power company is expecting a new generator by next February to help with the power situation.
Currently, residents are receiving 20 hours of power. Previously, this was reduced to only a few hours after the generator broke down. During the course of the last two months, this newspaper had reported that after the failure of the main generating set, the growing town was being powered by two smaller generators. But the community experienced constant blackouts since these generators could not cope with the demands of the town.
