After being hospitalized since Thursday, Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon was yesterday discharged from the Caribbean Heart Institute after minor surgery was performed to remove a clot.
During the surgery, an Inferior Vena Cava Filter (IVC filter) was implanted in him to trap, if developed, clot fragments and prevent them from travelling through the vena cava vein to his heart and lungs.
On Thursday morning, Dr Luncheon was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital complaining of shortness of breath.
He was transferred to the Caribbean Heart Institute after his condition worsened. Doctors diagnosed that he had been in respiratory distress and tests were done to ascertain the cause of the symptoms.
He was taken into emergency surgery on Saturday.
