Ministers of Government, members of the National Assembly and holders of constitutional offices will receive a salary increase of five percent retroactive to January 1, 2012.
On Thursday, Minister of Finance Dr. Ashni Singh brought to the National Assembly two orders, amending the Ministers, Members of the National Assembly and Special Offices (Emoluments) Act and the Constitutional Offices (Remuneration of Holders) Act, increasing the annual rates of salaries by five percent.
Both of the orders (No. 187 of 2012 – Ministers, MPs) and (No. 188 of 2012 – Constitutional offices) were issued on November 29, 2012 by the Minister of Finance.
The Government recently announced an across-the-board increase of five percent for public servants also retroactive to January 1, 2012.
