Two Mahaicony families, whose homes were damaged by high winds on Christmas Eve Day, have been reassured of Government’s intention to help them.
The Government Information Agency said that Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Ganga Persaud and a team yesterday morning met with the affected families. He told them that government will assist them in whatever way it can.
High winds shifted the two houses off their bases, one in Hyde Park
and the other in Wash Clothes, GINA said. One of the roofs was damaged. Amar Singh,58 years old, his wife and son occupied the home in Wash Clothes while 67-year old Bashkan and two sons had lived in their home in Hyde Park, GINA said.
Persaud promised help in the form of paddy because they are farmers.
Minister of Agriculture Dr Leslie Ramsammy also visited the families yesterday, GINA added.
