I am not sure that things will be better than last year in terms of the disgusting practice of firing the different classes of squibs. On Christmas day this malady was already creeping in. Imagine what it will be like during Old Year’s night.
We have been hearing about the appeals to those who bring these items into the country. It is illegal! These culprits must be given the appropriate penalty when they are caught. I am very concerned about the open sales of these firecrackers. It is not a case of the police not being aware of these things being sold. Is it a case where the entire police force cannot come up with a simple plan to seize both the items and the sellers? Would the police respond to calls from those affected to apprehend those who are overdoing it?
I hate Diwali and I hate village days; I also hate Old Year’s Night. You the readers can guess why.
Because of these unconscionable people, there are many who move out of their homes during these periods, all because they are adversely affected. All because they want peace and quiet. Then they would return after these events all in one piece.
I am forced to visit the countryside where, thank God, I still have a few relatives. If this is the way in which the government protects its citizens, then I would not like to imagine how bigger threats will be addressed.
Yours faithfully,
