The body of an elderly man with a wound to his neck was discovered yesterday at Dredge Creek, which is located up the Pomeroon River, in Essequibo.
Police stated that around 8am yesterday, the body of Steven Moses, 65, of Dredge Creek, was found. It is currently at the Suddie Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Stabroek News was told by the man’s son-in-law that from about midday on Boxing Day, Moses was not seen after drinking with friends. They said when night fell and he had not returned home, family members and residents began a search. They said that sometime after midnight, they gave up the search and promised to start again yesterday morning. It was during this act that the man was discovered a short distance from his home.
The family suspects foul play but was not aware of Moses having any disputes with anyone.
