Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee has written to media houses inviting them to a forum on Monday, December 31 at which he is expected to make “some very important announcements in respect to the future of our country’s security sector”.
In his letter he said “I believe you will be interested in hearing first hand about the nature of the announcements I intend to make”.
The event is to be held at 2 pm at the auditorium of the Police Officers’ Training College, Camp Road.
Rohee has come under intense pressure from the opposition over security failures and the killings of three men during protests in Linden in July.
His functioning in Parliament has been circumscribed as a result of moves by the two opposition parliamentary parties.
