Boxing fans will be in for a Christmas treat tonight when Hurry Up Promotions in collaboration with Elton ‘Coolie Bully’ Dharry and Pearl Vodka unwraps 40 rounds of boxing dubbed ‘Night of Champions’ at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Dharry, the WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) bantamweight champion will headline the card in an eight-round contest versus journeyman Barbadian, Ricardo ‘The Brown Bomber’ Blackman. The ‘Coolie Bully’ was initially billed to face undefeated Jamaican Rudolph Hedge but negotiations broke down and Blackman was named as his late replacement. Blackman has recorded five wins and 14 losses while Dharry has had 10 wins, five losses and a draw.
Clive ‘Wonder Kid’ Atwell will co-headline the card and will clash with Barbados-based Guyanese Revlon Lake, whom he kayoed in the fourth round in July. Atwell, the undefeated local featherweight and CABOFE junior welterweight champion is coming off a scintillating 12th round stoppage of Trinidad and Tobago’s Prince Lee Isidore two months ago. However, Lake will be looking to avenge his loss and retain his lightweight title which is at stake.
The card will also feature exciting undefeated knockout specialist Gladwin Dorway, veteran James Walcott and former world ranked featherweight Leon ‘Hurry Up’ Moore. Moore will take on Barbadian Shurwyne Marshall in the featherweight division in another eight-round bout.
Dorway who has knocked out all three of his opponents since turning professional in June, is aiming to improve his record against Shawn Pile in a six-round welterweight match while Pile will be looking to snap his four-fight losing streak which dates back to July, 2010. Walcott will face young Berbician Kelsie George in a catch weight six-round rematch. Walcott won the first match up in June.
Admissions for ringside will cost $3000 while general admission is half that amount. Bell time is 8pm.
