Ten beauties from around the Caribbean, Suriname and Venezuela will travel to Guyana this month to contest for the Miss Jamzone International Pageant title and US$10,000 against Guyanese girl Ayanna Harris.
The pageant is billed for 22 August at the National Cultural Centre and the queen’s coronation will be held during the Jamzone Beach Jam on 26 August.
This week The Scene introduces all ten contestants:
Miss Barbados – Khadija Moore
This 18-year-old student dreams of establishing a consulting business as well as having an international modelling career. Her hobbies include dancing, reading and participating in water sports.
Miss British Virgin Islands – Jasmine Perez
This beauty hopes to own her own entertainment network in the Caribbean which would include radio and television broadcast. She is currently a radio personality and said, “I will work tirelessly to produce original and quality programming” for her dream network. When she is not working on her ambitions she enjoys reading, socializing, dancing, photography and organizing community service projects.
Miss Dominican Republic – Suzan Castano Sena
.Her hobbies include modelling, surfing the internet and listening to music. This 18-year-old student said she always dreamed of becoming a famous TV-show hostess and she is working tirelessly to get there.
Miss Guyana – Ayanna Harris
This 23-year-old university student loves modelling, watching cricket and football, cooking and interacting with friends and family via social networks. Her life’s ambition is to become an established marketing consultant.
Miss Jamaica – Kerrie Baylis
This adventurous 23-year-old insurance underwriter loves to dance, hang out on the beach, watch movies, swim, model, travel and just hang out in the gyms. She just
wants to be “healthy and happy…happy in life, happy in love, happy in work.” A graduate of the University of Surrey with a degree in law, she says, “My journey has just begun. I’m still learning and exploring so my life’s ambition is to be happy and successful in any and everything I do. Live with no regrets!”
Miss Saint Kitts and Nevis – Trevicia Adams
A bank teller by profession, an entrepreneur by heart, this beautiful 21-year-old can’t go through a day without dancing and listening to music. She is currently pursuing a degree in marketing, which she hopes will be the first step towards her dream of one day owning a prestigious marketing consulting firm.
Miss Saint Lucia – Louise Liza Victor
This 21-year-old student says her philosophy in life is carpe diem (seize the day). She says another principle which governs her life is “positivity: think, do, be. Hence, I pursue and engage in activities that I am passionate about and bring fulfilment. Such activities include youth and social development of my country.” She is currently the general secretary of the National Youth Council of St Lucia and advocates for there to be greater appreciation of young people. Another one of her life’s ambition is to have a career in fashion. She intends to attain a degree in Fashion Marketing and Management to make this possible. During her spare time she loves participating in nature-oriented activities, shopping and relaxing with a book in her hands.
Miss Suriname – Elisa Tolud
From our neighbour to the east this 18-year-old is a student who enjoys modelling and playing volleyball whenever she has the time. Her life’s ambition is to one day become a child psychologist and own a children’s shelter. She says, “I love kids and will dedicate my life towards helping them.”
Miss Trinidad and Tobago – Renee Bhagwandeen
A 23-year-old professional model, Renee enjoys travelling, cooking, exploring different cultures, teaching children and organizing events against puppy mills and human trafficking but nothing would keep her from her dream to become a successful entrepreneur and to open her own children’s charity. She says, “With God’s grace, I would like to be successful in all that I do.”
Miss Venezuela – Xiomery Medina
This 20-year-old student enjoys dancing, modelling and listening to music. She says her life’s ambition is to model on the catwalks of Madrid . “My dream is to be a professional model,” she says.
Miss St Vincent & the Grenadines – Shemon Baptiste
From the island of St Vincent and the Grenadines , this 22-year-old teacher dreams of becoming an engineer. “I had really wanted to do civil environmental engineering but I have fallen in love with mechanical engineering. I feel at home reading and studying the field” she said. This beauty loves to dance, do a little painting, drawing and hike in the great outdoors.
