(Billboard) Brandy reaches the summit of R&B/Hip-Hop Albums for the second time in her nearly 18-year career, as ‘Two Eleven’ debuts at No 1 with 65,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
It’s been more than 10 years since her previous chart-topper, ‘Full Moon’, debuted and peaked at No 1 (March 23, 2002). In between her leaders, Brandy posted two top 10 albums, ‘Afrodisiac’ (No 4 in 2004) and ‘Human’ (No 5, 2008), as well as a greatest-hits collection, ‘The Best of Brandy’, (No 11, 2005). Her triumphant return to the chart’s upper reaches is also evident on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Her new album’s lead single, “Put It Down,” featuring Chris Brown, peaked at No 3 earlier this month, becoming her first top 10 hit in more than 10 years and matching her previous best position reached by “What About Us?,” the lead single off ‘Full Moon’, in 2002.
Miguel’s ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ rises 3-2 on R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, followed by last week’s No. 1, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ ‘The Heist’ (1-3), MGK’s ‘Lace Up’ (2-4) and Kanye West’s compilation ‘GOOD Music Cruel Summer’ (4-5). 39,000 downloads sold, according to SoundScan, and increased airplay and streaming helped Juicy J reach his highest position on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, as “Bandz a Make Her Dance,” featuring Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, rises 11-7.
The song also passes his previous best as a member of Three 6 Mafia: 2005’s No. 9-peaking “Stay Fly,” featuring Young Buck and 8Ball & MJG.
T.I. makes the biggest entrance of his career on R&B/Hip-Hop Songs as “Ball,” featuring Lil Wayne, opens at No. 11.
The 94,000 downloads sold (according to SoundScan) push “Ball” to a No 2 debut on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Songs. On R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, the debut marks the Atlanta rapper’s best rank as a lead artist since “Got Your Back,” featuring Keri Hilson, peaked at No 10 in 2010.
T.I.’s new album ‘Trouble Man’ drops December 18.
Rihanna’s “Diamonds”, meanwhile, shines atop R&B Hip-Hop Songs for a third week, overseeing a static top five. Kanye West, Jay-Z and Big Sean’s “Clique” holds at No 2, followed by Miguel’s “Adorn” (3-3), West, Big Sean, Pusha T and 2 Chainz’s “Mercy” (4-4) and French Montana’s “Pop That,” featuring Rick Ross, Drake and Lil Wayne (5-5).
