PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC-A match winning performance from Barbados captain Dwayne Smith led them to a commanding 77 run win over Trinidad and Tobago’s ‘B’ team in a practice match here yesterday.
Smith slammed an unbeaten 71 as the Bajans reached 144 for three of their 20 overs while the Trinidadians crashed to 78 all out in 19 overs.
The Barbadian skipper faced 66 balls hitting seven fours and one six and was supported by the hard-hitting Shamarh Brooks with 35 off 29 balls including three sixes.
Justin Guillen gave T&T ‘B’ a flying start smashing 23 runs from 17 balls with one four and a six and Vikash Mohan with 18 off 20 balls were the only two batsmen to get into double figures.
Wickets fell regularly as Smith returned to be the chief destroyer of T&T ‘B’ with three for three off three overs, while Suileman Benn grabbed two for 12, Ryan Hinds two for 20 and Javon Searles two for 18.
Barbados is due to play the Windwards in their second warm-up match today.
