A 13-year-old lad of Amelia’s Ward, Linden, died yesterday after a speeding car hit him from behind as he rode his bicycle on an errand for his parents.
The accident occurred between 15:30 hours and 16:00 hours near the Lovers’ Lane bus shed on the Amelia’s Ward Public Road.
Dead is Seon Clement, of 769 Well Road, South Amelia’s Ward, Linden. He was a second form student of the Linden Foundation Secondary School. Eyewitnesses said that the boy was thrown several feet away upon impact when hit by the car, said to be speeding along the road with another. He reportedly died on the spot.
Speaking to this newspaper, the boy’s father Ian Clement, a policeman attached to the Brickdam Police Station, said that the boy was hit on the Amelia’s Ward Public Road as he was riding towards his home to collect something from his mother.
“He got hit from behind…he was coming to get a bag from his mother,” said the father.
The child’s body was taken to the Georgetown Hospital for a post mortem examination tomorrow.
He is survived by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
