Dear Editor,
There are two concerns which we the residents of Ann’s Grove-Beehive would like to highlight to the relevant authorities:
(1) The main access road that leads to the villages of Beehive, Clonbrook, Ann’s Grove, Two Friends and Dochfour is in a deplorable state and is in dire need of urgent repairs. This one road services five villages and countless vehicles traverse it on a daily basis. There is a section which is approximately two hundred yards from the public road which is so bad that drivers have to navigate with extreme caution getting in and out of the community. This section has a hole approximately two feet in depth which is getting deeper and wider every day, because when the rain falls it accumulates a lot of water and the drivers have no option but to drive through it.
Now that the rainy season is at hand the road will get worse if urgent repairs are not done, and it will be even more expensive for the vehicle owners and cause commuters more discomfort.
(2) The compound of the health centre was recently cut after its vegetation grew to a frightening height. Now with the rainy season in progress the grass and wild eddoes are once again getting higher.
We would like those in authority to try their utmost to minimize the growth of this vegetation and not allow it to reach the level it was previously. As a health care institution we expect a clean and safe environment for our citizens.
One suggestion is for the health ministry – if it can afford it – to spray the facility once every six weeks for six months; this will surely kill the roots of that long grass as well as the wild eddoes.
Yours faithfully,
Fitzroy Inverary Hughes
