The Georgetown Cricket Association/Noble House Seafoods second division two-day competition resumes today with four matches to kick start the new year. There will be one Zone A and three Zone B matches.
Two of the matches between the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and University of Guyana (UG); and the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) against the Malteenoes Sports Club are expected to be keenly contested.
In the lone Zone A match to be played at the Guyana National Industrial Corporation (GNIC) ground, Everest Cricket Club (ECC) will look to defeat Ace Warriors, who are currently the last placed team in their group while in Zone B, Gandhi Youth Organization (GYO) will face a stern examination from the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) at Camp Ayanganna.
At GYO, the GCC will take on Malteenoes Sports Club. Both teams will be without the services of several senior players, who are all involved in the ongoing senior Inter County Four Day competition. GCC will be without Robin Bacchus and Jeetendra Sookdeo while Malteenoes will be without Shaquille Williams and Kwame Crosse.
At the Muslim Youth Organization (MYO) ground, DCC takes on UG. When the sides last met, in the previous edition of the tournament, UG won on first innings in the drawn encounter. The Queenstown team, who lead Zone B in the points standings, will be eager to avenge last year’s match.
