(Trinidad Express) A man described by the police as a gang leader was gunned down early yesterday morning moments after he and his girlfriend got to his Carenage home after a fete.
The victim was Marvin Harewood, aged 31.
Police were unwilling to divulge the name of his girlfriend who survived the shooting, fearing the killers might target her.
Police said around 5 a.m., Harewood and his 25-year-old girlfriend had arrived at Harewood’s Riverside Drive, La Puerta, Diego Martin, home when two gunmen approached them and opened fire.
Harewood was shot several times in the chest, back and head while his girlfriend sustained a single gunshot to her chest.
Relatives who heard the gunshots came out while others called the police.
Harewood was taken to the St James Medical Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Harewood’s girlfriend remains in stable condition at the Port of Spain General Hospital.
Homicide Bureau officers are continuing investigations.
