– Everest grabs first innings points
Everest Cricket Club yesterday grabbed first innings points against Ace Warriors after dismissing them for a paltry first innings score of 50 and then racking up 234-6 when the Georgetown Cricket Association, Noble House Seafoods two day second division competition resumed at the Muslim Youth Organisation ground.
In the lone Zone A match the nine-man Ace Warriors cricket team closed their innings at 8-50 in 14.4 overs with Chris Persaud top scoring with 25, an innings that included five fours.
Four Ace Warriors batsmen failed to get off the mark.
Bowling for Everest, Javed Rasheed had 2 for 2, Garfield DeRoach 2 for 23 and Raphael Singh 1 for 2.
Everest CC were led to their first innings total by Mohan Ramdeen who fell five runs short of a century.
Ramdeen’s 91 was decorated by 15 fours and one six and he received support from Riyad Sattaur who made 76 with 14 boundaries before he was run out the two featuring in a 130-run, fifth wicket partnership.
Ace Warrior’s Arthur Mason bagged 5-73.
Ace Warriors, who required 184 runs to make Everest bat a second time, were 46 without loss after eight overs at close of play. Rawle Enmore led the way with an unbeaten 36 studded with seven fours.
At the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) ground, the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) batting first scored 144 all out in 42.3 overs against Malteenoes Cricket Club. Several batsmen made starts but none carried on.
Martin Pestano-Belle (22), Almando Doman (20) and Gavin Singh were the principal scorers. Leg-spinner Steven Sankar took 4 for 45 from 11.3 overs while Darien Best picked up 3 for 21 and Shaquille Williams, released by Demerara to play for his club, 2 for 25.
Williams then made 44 with nine fours and Jamal Naughton hit six fours in 32 before he was bowled by Devon Lord as Malteenoes collapsed from 3 for 97 to 8 for 105 in 33 overs at close of play. Winston Forrester has 3 for 4 and Gavin Singh 2 for 7 for GCC.
