Members of the Private Sector Commission met with representatives of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) yesterday at the Office of the Leader of the Opposition, Hadfield Street, Georgetown, a release from APNU said.
The release said that the two sides broached a wide range of issues in an amicable manner including the relationship between the two organizations; the upcoming budget, matters relating to the Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice (Region 10) and the status of that region’s agreement with the government.
The release said that both sides agreed to meet more frequently -at least once every quarter – and even more when the situation warrants it.
This was the first meeting of the year between the two groups. The next meeting is scheduled for January 23rd. That meeting will deal primarily with the budget.
Representing APNU at the meeting were: Brigadier David Granger, Leader of the Opposition; Joseph Harmon MP and Lance Carberry. The PSC representatives were its President Ron Webster, Ramesh Dookhoo, John Willems and Elizabeth Alleyne.
