A minibus driver was yesterday fined $7,000 after he admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol.
Ramdeo Persaud pleaded guilty when the case was called before Magistrate Alex Moore at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court.
The police said that on January 15, on the East Coast public road, Persaud drove his minibus while being under the influence of alcohol.
No further details were provided to the court.
The prosecution had no record of any prior offences committed by Persaud, as a result of which the magistrate imposed the $7,000 fine.
