The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment in a release on Tuesday said that Esso Exploration and Production Guyana/ Shell Exploration and Production Guyana Ltd through CGG Veritas will be conducting a 3D seismic survey offshore of Guyana.
The 3D seismic survey is scheduled to commence from January 20, 2013 and conclude in mid-March.
The exercise will involve a survey vessel towing a streamer of sensitive devices over a length of eight kilometres, a breadth of approximately one kilometre, and a depth of seven metres.
As such the Ministry of Natural Resources is urging all mariners and fisher folk to be alert and take the necessary precautions to avoid contact with the sensitive equipment used to conduct oil exploration activities.
