Winners of the inaugural Courts Pee Wee football tournament Marian Academy on Tuesday received the prizes from the Petra Organization yesterday afternoon at the school’s Carifesta Avenue location.
The tournament, which was held last November and was a collaborative effort by Banks DIH Limited, Courts and the Petra Organisation, saw Marian Academy defeating Tucville Primary 1-0 in the final.
Handing over the prizes was co director of the Petra Organization, Marlan Cole.
Marian Academy received a trophy, gold medals and uniforms from Epic Sports in the United States in addition to a computer system to the school’s coach Chris Bowman.
Runners-up, Tucville Primary, received the second place trophy, silver medals and six size three soccer balls while West Ruimveldt received a trophy and four balls for placing third.
The Most Valuable Player award went to Mathew Klautky of Marian Academy. He received a trophy and a pair of soccer boots while the most goal scorer Simeon Hackett and best goalkeeper Akeem Haynes also received a pair of football boots.
The top four finishers received one desktop computer and equipment, while the 16 participating schools were recipients of two boom boxes each so that students can listen to the interactive radio instruction programme.
