The Mayor and City Council (M&CC) has commenced registration of common lodging houses and hair-dressing salons operating in Georgetown.
According to a release from the M&CC, this process is vital to the integrity of such businesses and consequently, the health of the city.
Owners and persons who provide these services must comply with the laws requiring them to be registered with the Council. Persons who are desirous of operating such businesses must first obtain permission from the City Engineer’s department and the Central Housing and Planning Authority. As part of the process of registration, the businesses have to be inspected by an Environmental Health Officer to ensure that they are in compliance with the laws prescribed in the Municipal and District Councils Act Chapter 28:01.
