Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) President and Vice President of the Guyana Police Service football team Colin Boyce has indicated that he has no intention of contesting the presidency of the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Yesterday Boyce, via telephone, said he was told that he was being nominated, but he respectfully declined as he has no interest in football. He stressed that he has no intention of running for the presidency of the GFA nor does he have any intention of being an executive or committee member.
The AAG president said that as vice president of the Guyana Police Service football team, he is there to represent the interest of the service on the General Council of the GFA. However, his interest has always been and continues to be in track and field, which, he said, is his priority.
Boyce is up for reelection as AAG president on Sunday when that administrative body holds its elections.
Incumbent GFA President Vernon Burnett and University of Guyana Coordinator Lavern Fraser are the two persons contesting the presidency of the GFA. Elections are scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Sleepin International Hotel.
