GROS ISLET, St Lucia, CMC – Manager Omar Khan says defending champions Trinidad and Tobago have achieved their goal thus far ahead of the finals of the Caribbean T20 tournament scheduled for Sunday.
The Red Force has played unbeaten to top the standings enroute to the finals and are now awaiting the outcome of tomorrow’s play-off to know who they will meet in the finals.
The Trinidadians demolished Barbados by five wickets Wednesday to complete five successive victories after their opening match in Port-of-Spain was abandoned due to rain.
“Our aim was to win all our games and finish at the top of standings with maximum points,” Khan told the Express.
“We achieved that, and now are just waiting to see who will be the other team to qualify for the final”.
Trinidad and Tobago have finished the round robin stage of the competition with 21 points after also scoring convincing wins against Combined Campuses and College, Leeward Islands, Windward islands and former champions Guyana .
With their final game schedule for Sunday Khan says he is confident his players will remain focused and concentrate on their preparations.
“I don’t think there will be any difficulty in keeping the guys focused. We have training sessions and we are here as team,” said Khan.
“Everyone is here at the hotel and we have a good system in place. These are professional players and I am sure they will be ready for the final”.
