Kitty resident Marlon Tullock, who was allegedly found with cocaine hidden in an M&M’s container under his bed, was yesterday refused bail when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on January, 18 at Georgetown, Tullock had in his possession 36 grammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The unrepresented Tullock who resides at Lot 185 Pike Street, Kitty, Georgetown pleaded not guilty to the charge of narcotics possession when it was read to him.
Police Prosecutor Kerry Bostwick told the court that on the day in question, police officers acting on information received went to the defendant’s residence where they conducted a search and uncovered the illegal substance hidden in a hole in his mattress concealed in an M&M’s container.
According to Bostwick, the accused was told of the offence committed and taken to the Criminal Investigations Department where the substance was weighed in his presence and amounted to that mentioned in the charge.
The magistrate informed Tullock that he would be remanded to prison since he advanced no special circumstances relating to the offence for his pre-trial liberty to be considered.
The matter was transferred to Court Five for continuation on January 22.
