The Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) is on the verge of intensifying major infrastructural works countrywide, heralded by the opening of several bids yesterday at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board’s office at Main and Urquhart streets, Georgetown.
This included the retender of a bid to construct a well at Providence, on the East Bank of Demerara.
Bids for the supply and construction of potable water wells at Providence, Uitvlugt and Better Hope, divided into three lots, came from Water and Oil Well Service Company Ltd of Trinidad, which bid for Lots 1, 2 and 3, at $220,240,517, $149,560,941 and $261,784,976, respectively; BK International, which bid $142,199,101, $123,338,457 and $174,134,829; and S. Jagmohan Hardware Supplies and Construction Services, which bid only for Lot 2, which it proposed to undertake at a cost of $95,636,090. The engineer’s estimate for the projects are pegged at $107, 443, 715 (Lot 1), $94,335,837 (Lot 2), and $116,037,957 (Lot 3).
The tender for the supply and delivery of water treatment chemicals were also divided into three lots. The bidders were Manohar Services of Canada, which bid $141,600,000, $21,538,000 and $36,382,500, respectively; Greensol Ltd of Trinidad, which bid USD $83,538 or $16,707,600 but did not specify which bid and did not complete the tender form, although its price schedule was present. 3R Energy UK Ltd submitted bids for lots 1, 2 and 3 at $104,811,823, $18,566,100 and $37,132,425, while Lynwil International Trading of Trinidad bid $126,195,600, $23,750,111 and $52,120,550. The engineer’s estimates were $93,150,000, Lot2 $16,711,110 and $40,837,500.
For the Supply and installation of 300mm of transmission mains and a 100mm of distribution mains along Duncan Street, Campbell Avenue and Drury Lane, in Georgetown, five companies bid .They were: S Jagmohan Hardware Supplies, which bid $71,473,500; Dax Engineering, which bid $89,004,300; Alvin Chowritmootoo, $100,905,000; HJ Contracting Services, $50,850,744; and N. Latchman Business Establishment and Civil Work, $66,029,250. The engineer’s estimate is $57,986,160.
For the procurement of works services connections and upgrade of the Better Hope/Mon Repos Plant, bids were received from Fideli Singh and Sons Contracting Services, $38,130,850; Linden Holding Inc, $67,015,600; Alvin Chowritmootoo, $43,864,200; N Latchman Business Establishment, $35,765,120; Mark Kissoon Contracting, $37,724,900; and HJ Contracting Services, $34,560,245. The engineer’s estimate was pegged at $40,055,700.
Bids were received for rehabilitation of deteriorated mains in Charlestown from Dax Contracting Services, $120,638,650; Alvin Chowritmootoo, $127,022,500; Cummings Electrical Company Ltd, $122,202,500; RP Construction Agency, $130,376,600; and N Latchman Business Establishment, $112,008,380. The engineer’s estimate is $115,835,995.
To supply and deliver service connection materials, a project divided into five lots, Dax Contracting bid $40,250,000, $32.4M, $26.4M, $40.5M and $84.2M; National Hardware bid $30,130,000,$62.2M, $4.9M, 15.3M, and $78,774,200; Manhohar Services bid $9.2M for Lot 1, $11,520,000 for Lot 3, and $78.3M for Lot 5; David Persaud Investments Ltd bid $10,304,000, $28,620,000, $14,928,000 and $66,277,000; and N Latchman Business Establishment and Civil Works bid $12,650,000, $5,580,000, $24.6M, $25.2M, and $128,720,000. The engineer’s estimate for this project is pegged at $13,282,500 for Lot1, $20,790,000 for Lot 2, $19.2M for Lot 3, $41,512,000 for Lot 4 and $71,750,000 for Lot 5.
For the supply and delivery of pumps and motors to GWI, bids were divided into three lots. Dax Engineering bid $65,310,000, Engineering Agencies Caribbean Ltd of Trinidad $813,427 or $162,685,400, K and P Project Management Company of Guyana $159,908,637, SPADS Incorporated $77,413,621 and National Company Incorporated $63,670,184, for all three lots. Quintama Sales and Services Ltd of Trinidad bid only for Lot 1, at $29,092,140. The engineer’s estimate is $19M, $9M and $52,950,000, for lots 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
Meanwhile, with the procuring entity being the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, the tender for the provision of security services throughout regions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 saw companies submit billion dollar bids. They were: Strategic Action Security ($969,878,000), Homesafe Security ($1,229,904,000) and RK’s Guyana Security Services ($1,080,721,900).
For the provision of security services in regions 1, 7, 8, and 9, three companies bid: Homesafe Security ($141,912,000), Strategic Action and Security ($131,093,400), and RK’s Guyana Security Service ($153,475,200). Bids were also received for the security of the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development: Strategic Action and Security ($21,131,880) and RK’s Guyana Security Service ($22,323,600).
