Attorney Ronald Burch-Smith, who served as Secretary of the Linden Commission of Inquiry, has resigned from the post after his request for an increase in remuneration was declined, Attorney General Anil Nandlall says.
Burch-Smith, when contacted, confirmed his resignation from the post, which comes just as the commission is set to get back to work. However, he said that he could not give any further comment on the issue. Instead, he suggested that the Attorney General would be the best person to give more information on the issue.
Attorney General Nandlall later stated that Burch-Smith resigned on Tuesday after his request for an increase in remuneration was declined.
The Commission of Inquiry is expected to present its finding into the shooting to death of three Lindeners during the July, 2012 protests against increased electricity tariffs soon.
