The Guyana Women Miners Organisation (GWMO) will tomorrow mark one year since it came into existence at an anniversary celebration, to be held at the Sea Breeze Hotel, Pere Street, Kitty.
Among those slated to make addresses at the event are US Ambassador to Guyana D. Brent Hardt, Canadian High Commiss-ioner David Devine and Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources Robert Persaud, who GWMO President Simona Broomes said have been very supportive of the organisation.
Broomes herself will be addressing the event, which is expected to be attended largely by members of the organisation from across the country along with special invitees. She said she plans to continue to plug for a better working relationship with government agencies as they continue to fight the many issues facing women miners and also trafficking in persons and child labour. The GWMO President said she will also highlight some of the challenges they have faced and also the many successes they have had.
Broomes said they will also be having the first election of office bearers. The event will begin at 11am.
