ST.JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC– President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Dr. Julian Hunte has commended Deandra Dottin for becoming the first West Indian woman to play 50 T20 internationals. Dottin, 21, celebrated the milestone with a superb unbeaten 48 from 30 balls as the Windies destroyed South Africa by eight wickets in the first of two T20 matches last weekend.
“I wish to especially congratulate Deandra Dottin on the most historic achievement of becoming the first West Indian woman to feature in 50 Twenty20 Internationals,” said Dr. Hunte. “It will remain an incomparable achievement and the Board looks forward to her continued strong performances at the highest level as she works towards another 50 appearances”. The West Indies Women won both Twenty20 Internationals played at the Beausejour Cricket Ground after clawing their way back from two games down to draw the ODI series. “While there were some outstanding individual performances what was most impressive was the total team effort displayed by the Windies Women who continue to move from strength to strength as they built towards their World Cup campaign in India starting on January 31st,” Dr. Hunte said.
