MELBOURNE, Australia, CMC – Finger surgery has ruled all-rounder Moises Henriques out of the opening One-Day International against West Indies which starts next Friday.
The 25-year-old underwent the operation on Saturday afternoon and has been ruled out for a minimum of one week. Australia host the touring West Indies in the first game of the five-match series in Perth next Friday.
“Moises was struck on the index finger of his right hand batting yesterday (Friday), aggravating the same finger injury sustained during recent Australian ODI training,” New South Wales team physiotherapist Murray Ryan said.
“Due to concern over increasing swelling and infection Moises was reviewed by a Sydney hand specialist this afternoon and has undergone a minor surgical procedure.
“Moises will be unable to play or train for at least one week. His availability for state and international cricket will be determined as the injury heals.”
The right-hander first injured the index finger on his right hand during a net session with the Australia side and was then took another blow from Western Australia fast bowler Nathan Coulter-Nile while playing for NSW on Friday.
