Roraima Airways takes its annual Wedding Expo up a notch this year, promising a real life wedding at the event’s fifth showing; one lucky couple can win an all expenses paid wedding, compliments of Roraima and GT&T as long as they are prepared to have their wedding during the expo.
CEO of Roraima, Captain Gerald Gouveia said at the launch of the event in the Roraima Duke Lodge Hotel yesterday that this year they had decided to incorporate the wedding in the expo to create a larger-than-life event and therefore enhance the quality of the event.
He repeatedly thanked the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company for its corporate support to the expo. “This is a milestone and we are very pleased to launch the expo,” he said, mentioning that they had seen the benefit of wedding expos across the Caribbean and immediately became motivated.
“This year’s going to be spectacular, especially through our collaboration with GT&T,” Shamaine Davis, Marketing Manager of Roraima Airways said.
The expo will commence on April 5 and continue until April 7, and Davis noted that its main purpose was assisting persons with planning their weddings; a spin-off would be to develop the tourism sector in Guyana. She said that at the expo there would be the usual showcase of cakes, wedding invitations and floral decorations, closing off with a fashion show on the final night.
Speaking also was acting Minister of Tourism Irfaan Ali, who said the expo “is a unique opportunity to bring tourism into Guyana.” He said it would encourage overseas-based Guyanese to return home and have their weddings here.
He also announced that he will soon launch an event planning, training workshop for persons, especially those who are interested in wedding planning. “I must thank Roraima for a pioneer of a magnificent tourism product,” Ali said.
