We often read stories of murders, suicides, serious assaults on citizens and breaking and entering of premises. Recently, a city constable was stabbed at Bourda Market as he attempted to prevent three bandits from breaking into stalls.
There is a high level of corrupt activity and conflict of interest in high places, the list can continue.
From my knowledge, many acts of criminality are neither reported to the media nor the police; in the latter instance, because there is an apparent loss of confidence in most of our security processes.
Our executive ought to realise that security is a very serious matter that ought to be dealt with professionally only, way above partisan politics and petty personal proclivities.
For the sake of victims and potential victims, let us hope that those in control see the light, cooperate and put an end to arrogance.
In the meantime, we might need to seek divine guidance if we are to curtail the violence stalking our land.
