Dear Editor,
My heart bleeds for my country. The shooting of Mr Oscar Clarke and senseless attacks on his family at their residence serve as another reminder of the level to which this country has sunk and the quality of political leadership coming from the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr Clement Rohee. Mr Clarke is a known public official having served in the PNC administrations and currently is the General Secretary of the People’s National Congress/Reform (PNCR) and a councillor of the Georgetown City Council.
The acting Commissioner of Police must do all within his power to ensure that those who carried out this dastardly act are found and face the full brunt of the law. Too many are being attacked and dying in this country without the perpetrators being brought to justice. This is also another example of the failure of Minister Rohee to keep the people safe and guarantee them the needed security to go about their daily business and live peacefully in their homes. To Mr Clarke and family my prayers are with them and I wish him a speedy recovery.
Yours faithfully,
B Beniprashad Rayman
