Republic Bank (Guyana) Inc yesterday awarded two women for their outstanding performances at the University of Guyana.
Rebecca Persaud received the Republic Bank Limited Chairman’s Award for being the ‘Best Graduating Student with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Faculty of Social Sciences’; Saudia Majeed was awarded for being the ‘Best Graduating Student with a Diploma in Banking and Finance’.
Both Persaud and Majeed received plaques and monetary gifts from the bank yesterday at the main branch in New Market Street.
Registrar of the University of Guyana Vincent Alexander said the university was proud to be a part of such an initiative and looked forward for many more successes in the near future.
Alexander however pointed out that the number of male achievers is decreasing daily at the tertiary level of education and stressed that more needs to be done to address this.
