Dear Editor,
It was somewhat appalling to see on one of the evening television newscasts a full view of the face of the six-year-old child who is alleged to have been playing with matches, which led to a fire and the death of an infant who was just over a month old.
Editor, this is a serious infringement of all codes relating to reporting on children in the media. It is expected that well-informed media practitioners would be aware of these codes and conventions, and not be engaged in such unacceptable practices.
Let us show a little more concern and sensitivity about our children and about the quality of our journalism.
Yours faithfully,
Yvonne V Stephenson
