Nestle Caribbean (Milo) through local representatives Beepat’s on Saturday donated a quantity of footballs to schools participating in the current Milo U-20 tournament.
The presentation took place at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue, at half time of the competition and a total of 168 balls were presented to the respective 24 teams in a simple ceremony.
Co-Director of PETRA Organisation, co-ordinator of the tournament, Marlon Cole, said at the presentation ceremony: “The performance of the teams has been good and we hope that this donation of seven footballs per school would help to facilitate further improvement of the schools.
“We would like to thank the Ministry of Education for allowing the schools to compete in this initiative, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport for helping us with the acquisition of a duty free letter and most importantly the sponsors, Nestle Caribbean by way of Beepat’s Trading for their unwavering support of this venture,” Cole added.
“In partnership with the Ministry of Health, this tournament is a vehicle for the fight against Gender Violence as the teams certainly have played their part and we would like to believe that the little we have done has had a profound effect on the aforementioned cause,” stated Cole.
Nestle Brand Manager Selwyn Bobb spoke on behalf of the institution citing the donation as a demonstration of the entity’s commitment to sport.
“Our aim has always been to contribute to sports and this expression and display shows our continued commitment to youth sports and sports in totality,” said Bobb.
