Wounded Brazilian teen was involved in fight – Crime Chief

Paulo Mauricio De Silva, the Brazilian teen who succumbed to a fatal wound to the neck at Lethem on Sunday, was involved in a fight with unknown persons, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said yesterday.

Persaud said the information the police have is that De Silva, 17, of Bon Fim, Brazil, and several persons from the Tabatinga, Lethem area—where he was found—had a confrontation during which he attacked them.

Persaud said a knife was in the teen’s possession when he was found. The teen’s sister, he added, later identified the weapon as belonging to their home at Bon Fim, Brazil. No one seems to know the identity of those who fought with the teen, he further said.

Police said in a press release on Sunday that Da Silva was found around 2.30 am on Sunday with a wound to the neck. At that point, he was alive but he later succumbed to his injuries at the Lethem Hospital.
