Gye Nyame gates: Gye Nyame translated into English means “except for God” and these gates can be found at the residence of Tom Dalgety in Robb Street between Camp and Alexander streets. He has invested over $200,000 in the fabrication of these gates with this African symbol, which he hopes will encourage others to showcase designs of African ancestry. The symbol is ubiquitous in Ghana and is said to be popularly used for decoration; a reflection of the deeply religious character of the Ghanaian people. (Photo by Arian Browne)
