President of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), Keith Foster says that the Berbice Cricket Board’s (BCB) involvement in any activities sanctioned by the new executive of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) will be dependent on its executives.
According to Foster, the decision whether the be addressed including the
GCB elections held two Sundays ago at which the BCB was not represented. Asked if he felt the GCB elections were legal Foster said to the best of his knowledge an injunction was filed against the GCB, but if that injunction was still in force or withdrawn from the courts he could not say.
The BCB President disclosed that he is still at a loss for words when he read in the newspapers that the BCB was invited to the elections. Foster maintains that he is not in receipt of any invitation from the GCB. Two Sundays ago the GCB held its annual general meeting and election of office bearers with Drubahadur elected president and Anand Sanasie the secretary.
Two West Indies Cricket Board officials, Conde Riley and Imran Khan, attended the AGM as observers with Riley later pronouncing on the AGM. However, Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) Clive Lloyd and former GCB Chairman of Selectors, Claude Raphael, have all said that the elections are illegal since an injunction is in place preventing the board from functioning. The Court also granted an injunction which should have prevented the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) from holding its elections although a fraction of the DCB led by Raj Singh along with the representatives of the Essequibo Cricket Board (ECB) voted at the GCB AGM.
