MELBOURNE, Australia, CMC – All-rounder Shane Watson has been recalled for the next two One-Day Internationals of the five-match series against West Indies.
The 31-year-old has been dogged by a calf injury and has been out of action since December. He will replace left-hander Usman Khawaja in the 13-man squad.
“Shane Watson comes back into the squad for the Commonwealth Bank Series against West Indies as an opening batsman,” chairman of selectors, John Inverarity said.
“Shane has recovered from his injury and we look forward to seeing him get back to his best.”
Australia and West Indies clash in the third ODI at Manuka Oval in Canberra tomorrow before travelling to Sydney for the penultimate encounter on Friday.
The hosts lead the series 2-0 after convincing wins in the Perth doubleheader last weekend.
