Gidram Rasiawan, age 17, of Eccles, East Bank Demerara this morning appeared in the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving following Sunday’s smash up at Mon Repos.
After reading the charge, Magistrate Alex Moore granted him bail in the sum of $300,000 each for each count. The two charges pertain to the deaths of Godfrey Gilbert Daniels, 47, of Berbice and Shondel Alana Yaw, 33, of Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.
Gidram was also charged with breach of insurance, taking a vehicle without the consent of an owner and driving without a licence. He was granted $50,000 bail on each of those charges.
On Monday he appeared before the same Magistrate charged with driving under the influence. He was granted $7,500 bail.
Rasiawan returns to court on April 4.
