Magistrate Judy Latchman refused bail to a mason accused of robbery, when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday to answer the charge.
The allegation against Colin Farrell, 21, is that on February 3, at the Kitty Seawall, he stole one cellular phone and a quantity of cash all totalling $21,000, property of Vinesh Persaud.
Farrell who resides at Sophia pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
No facts of what occurred on the day in question were related in court.
However, when given a chance to speak, Farrell explained that the phone is his own. He also said that he found the money on the ground and attempted to catch a bus when Persaud ran behind and called him a thief.
When the court asked if there were any objections to bail, the prosecution responded in the affirmative citing the seriousness of the offence and the likelihood that the accused would not return to court.
Farrell was then remanded and ordered to appear in court on February 28.
