A man who allegedly broke and entered the dwelling house of another and stole $518,000 in items was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The allegation against Satish Mandray is that on January 15, at East Street, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Compton Williams and stole one gold band, a quantity of cellular phones and accessories, a quantity of colognes, two digital cameras, one portable DVD player, one professional camera and one shaving set all totalling $518,000.
Mandray, who was unrepresented in court, pleaded not guilty to the charge of break and enter and larceny when it was read to him by Magistrate Leron Daly.
No facts of what occurred on the day in question were related in court.
When asked if they had any objections to the defendant being granted his pre-trial liberty, the prosecution responded in the affirmative, stating that the defendant has several matters pending in court.
Mandray was denied bail. He was ordered to return to court on March 5.
