Dear Editor,
Bartica is one of the richest regions in terms of natural resources yet we are plagued with the following:
1) The road from One Mile to Five Miles is repaired twice yearly. Remedial work was done by a contractor last November 2012, and only two months later, it’s all back to square one − potholes and ponds. Why can’t we get an asphalted road? All of Region 7’s mining equipment, fuel, etc. passes along this stretch of road.
2) Have you seen the movie Nightmare on Elm Street? Well we are getting a nightmare of blackouts from GPL. We have to have plenty lamps. Not all of us can afford a portable generator, so please install a Wartsila generator in the country’s richest region for natural resources. We all know the opposition is cutting costs, but many of them will have standby generators in their homes.
3) GWI Bartica is surrounded by fresh water, yet we can hardly get treated water through our taps.
4) Roadside vendors are more abundant than buyers. In First Avenue it is difficult to drive and park. Mr Benn please come and help us.
Yours faithfully,
Winston B Miller Sr
