ANSA McAl Trading, as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, built a Benab at the No 63 Beach, Corentyne, to provide better facilities for visitors.
At a handing over ceremony last week, Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority, Indranauth Haralsingh lauded ANSA McAl for the initiative to improve the tourism sector. He encouraged other members of the private sector to invest in creating facilities, such as more benabs, pavilions and washroom facilities to boost the aesthetics of the beach and help to promote tourism. He explained that when companies build facilities they are able to brand them to promote their businesses and create business opportunities.
Public Relations Officer of ANSA McAl, Darshanie Yussuf said that while the project was completed as part of ANSA McAl’s 20th anniversary celebrations, the company, as part of building communities, plans to keep improving the facilities at the beach. She urged other companies to come on board to promote tourism in Berbice.
Manager of ANSA McAl Berbice operations Mark Bicai joined Yussuf and Haralsingh to plead with patrons to desist from using the beach as a dumping site and vandalising the facilities. They advocated that patrons keep the beach clean and be responsible for their waste. They added that if efforts are made to promote the beach as a tourist destination then the environment must be kept in pristine condition.
The benab is branded with ANSA McAl’s Carib Beer and Mackeson products logos.
