The bloated body of the woman found in a Bartica house on Sunday has been identified as Elisangla Da Silva Figuerado, a 34-year-old Brazilian.
Police said in a press release yesterday that around 21:15 hrs Figuerado’s body was found in her home at Second Avenue, Bartica, with her tongue protruding from her mouth.
Sources told Stabroek News yesterday that police are looking for a woman who worked with Figuerado. Figuerado owned a money transfer and tele-radio patch business. One source said the woman has disappeared and it is believed that she may have some information about the circumstances surrounding the businesswoman’s death.
It was residents who decided to call the police after they noticed that the woman’s home was located up for several days, which was unusual. Ranks later found her bloated remains lying on a bed. The woman’s face and one of her hands had turned black, an indication that she had been poisoned.
Investigations are continuing.
