Days before her decomposing body was found in her Bartica home, Brazilian businesswoman Elisangla Da Silva Figuerado was heard arguing with the woman suspected to have played a part in her death, Crime Chief Seelall Persaud said yesterday.
According to Persaud, during the argument Figuerado threatened to kill the woman.
He told Stabroek News that Da Silva’s husband was detained, but there is nothing so far to suggest that he might have been involved in her death as he was working at another interior location at the time.
Based on the information from Persaud, foul play is suspected in the death of the 34-year-old woman.
He explained that the door leading into the house was padlocked from the outside. The woman’s remains were later found inside.
Stabroek News was told that the woman being sought is also a Brazilian national and that the two women had an argument over money.
Figuerado owned a money transfer and tele-radio patch business.
Police had said that the woman’s body was found in her home at Second Avenue, Bartica, with her tongue protruding from her mouth on Sunday at around 9:15pm.
